Varsity tennis began their season Friday, Aug. 19, and Saturday, Aug. 20, with a third place finish at the Woodlands Tournament.
Despite temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, the team slid past the first round, defeating Kingwood 12-4.
However, the squad yielded to four time state qualifier Klein 10-2 in the second round match later that Friday afternoon. The next day, they beat A&M Consolidated 15-4 to capture the third place finish.
“The Klein match was a good test for our team,” May said. “And while we did not win, we had many close matches.”
The team will compete against College Park, Montgomery, and Alamo Heights in the Fort Bend Tournament on Friday, Aug. 26, and Saturday, Aug. 27.
“If [the fans] would like to brave the heat, we would enjoy the support,” May said.
