Varsity tennis won their first ever team district championship Sept. 30 at the Cinco Ranch courts. The team played against Seven Lakes with a final score of 10-9.

The game was close, according to head coach Colin Harvey.

“We were down 4-3 after the doubles and swept the girls singles and one line 1 boys singles,” head coach Colin Harvey said. “A key match was Yoma Ogbevire winning a hard fought singles match 7-5, 6-3 against a very tough competitor.  It was the only boys match we won and we had to have it.”

The team will play in the area tournament at Deer Park High School, South Campus before the end of the month. For now, team tennis sits at a 9-1 record.

“We still have a lot of work to do for the area tournament in a few weeks,” Harvey said. “We need to do well there to have the best possible seeding at the regional tournament.”
