The varsity swimmming and diving team competed in the 5A-2 State Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 24-25, held at the Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas in Austin.
Senior Dominic Ricotta finished seventh in one meter diving, setting a new school record in the process.
Sophomore Kathryn Carson was the only individual contender in the swimming events, taking 15th in the 50 freestyle.
The 200 freestyle relay team of senior Avery Heussner, junior Amanda Moore, sophomore Sarah Medellin and Carson finished eighth in All-American time. The 400 freestyle relay of Moore, Medellin, Carson and freshman Erin Sutton also took 12th.
“Going to state was an amazing experience for all of us and the pressure was very high,” Moore said. “I think we swam well under the amount of pressure.”
