Boys’ and girls’ competed in the Region III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 5, resulting in multiple qualifiers for the Cross Country State Championships on Saturday, Nov. 12, in Round Rock.
Although the girls placed 5th, two spots away from qualifying for state as a team, senior Samantha Kubiak finished 9th, earning an individual spot at state.
With three top-20 finishers, including an 11th place run by junior Keo Neshyba, the boys’ squad placed 3rd, qualifying them for state as a team. Other runners advancing for the boys’ team are: senior Keo Neshyba (top-20), juniors Sam Wallace (top-20) and Ben Gift, and sophomores Jarrod Ballou, Will Mather and Syed Hussain.
All state qualifiers left for the competition at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Friday morning, and were sent off by fans, cheerleaders, the band, and other supporters.
