Political Parties

What you need to know

Good day Cougars!

We hope today is a wonderful day for all of you and that very goal of yours will soon be accomplished. As we all know, the 2024 elections have officially begun since and all the candidates are presenting themselves to the public and the nation, as the possible future leaders of the country if chosen. So for now, we’ll introduce you to the political parties involved and who their representatives are.

The first party is the Republican Party, which was founded back in the 1850s by Abraham Lincoln, Horace Greely, Francis Preston Blair, Amos Tuck, Edwin D. Morgan, and Alvan E. Bovay. The Republican Party is one of the two major political parties. It advocates for a limited government, lower taxes, and a free-market economy. They also support conservative social issues and emphasize more on tradition than the democrats. Some famous figures of these days that are involved in this party are Donald Trump, senator Ted Cruz and former Vice President Mike Pence.

The second party is the Democratic Party, which was founded in 1828 by Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren. It’s the second major political party. This party believes in social and economic equality, affordable healthcare, accessible education and protecting the environment. They generally support certain policies too, like increasing the minimum wage, expanding social safety nets, and advocating for civil rights and social justice. Some famous people in the political world that support this party are Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and senator
Bernie Sanders.

And last but not least, we have the American Independent Party, which was founded in 1967 by Bill Shearer and Eileen Knowland Shearer. It’s a far-right political party and it believes in conservative principles and in the limited government. Some notable figures who have expressed their support towards this party are George Wallace, a former governor of Alabama, who ran as a candidate for the party in the 1968 presidential election.

That would be all about introducing you all to the political parties on our part, now it’s your turn to choose a side and decide what’s best for our country, choose wisely and be proud!
