Physics teacher and assistant football coach Erik Hammond was awarded ‘Teacher of the Year’ for the 2012-13 school year on Wednesday, February 27.
“I am very honored and humbled by this award,” Hammond said. “It is truly an honor just to be nominated along with all the other great teachers.”
Hammond was greeted with a candy bouquet in his fourth period.
“This is not an individual award,” Hammond said. “I am a member of the greatest science department in the world. I am also lucky to be a member of the physics team. Without their help and support this wouldn’t be possible. They allow me to bounce ideas off them and ask question after question. A big thank you to Andrew Lowry and Tracey Wade for showing me all kinds of cool things.”
Hammond expressed his gratitude by referencing the show “The Big Bang Theory.”
