Orchestra adds new Chamber class
This fall, the orchestra department added a new Chamber orchestra class. Chamber is the sixth and newest level in the orchestra department.
“We were ready to add another class in the morning schedule,” director Brett Nelsen said. “We felt it would help everyone – seniors through freshman – by having another opportunity to take orchestra. It has been a while since we added a new level to the orchestras at Cinco.”
Created to allow students with growing talent in orchestra but without the expertise needed for the two highest levels, Sinfonia and Sinfonietta.
“I think orchestra growing larger is great,” junior and Chamber orchestra member Dylan Bray said. “When you look at things like band, which has more directors, it’s really great that we can have almost two full time directors and six orchestras because band has ridiculous numbers of resources compared to us.”
The orchestra department also invites the community to attend their concert on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. This will be Chamber orchestra’s first concert together.
