After officially announcing his retirement April 15, Head football Coach Don Clayton celebrated his retirement with a large gathering of former players, coaching colleagues, and family at a celebration in his honor Wednesday, May 22.

The event hosted by CRHS Booster Club featured a few informal guest speakers and lots of time for individuals to say congratulations and thanks to the only Athletic Director/Head Coach CRHS has known. Clayton, who has coached for 38 years, was the first hire by original principal Dr. Lowell Strike in the spring of 1999. Since then, Clayton has been a mainstay on the Friday night sidelines as well as the entire athletic department’s biggest cheerleader.

Former assistant coach, Chris Dudley has been hired to replace Clayton and carry on the Cougar gridiron tradition.
