January 16, students will be heading to Washington D.C. for the annual Close Up trip. This trip coincides this year with the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
Close-up is a non-profit organization that works with schools to set up a week-long trip to the nation’s capital. There, seniors and juniors will visit historical monuments and participate in facilitated discussions about politics and government.

It’s a great way for students to learn how Congress functions and see the inner workings of our government in action,” U.S. History teacher and Close-up sponsor, Kevin Hildebrand said. “Students can learn, travel, and have fun all at once!”

A record number of students from Cinco Ranch will be attending the trip this year, so the excitement is high. Sixty-three students and six teachers are heading to Washington Monday, Jan. 16.

This trip is also highly anticipated because students will end the trip with the inauguration of Donald Trump. The ceremony will mark the end of a very publicized and historic election season.

“The upcoming trip is going to be unforgettable!” Hildebrand said.

Remember to visit Coach Hildebrand in the Spring if you are interested in participating in this trip next year.
