Icy roads, school delay possible for March 4

Katy ISD released a statement that informed community members of possible winter weather, including freezing rain, on its website Monday evening.

“Residents are reminded to monitor local media, the Katy ISD website and the NWS website for related warnings, potential school closings, or changes in the forecast over the next several days,” Katy ISD said in the statement.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory, effective from 11 p.m. Monday night through 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. The NWS is the district’s chief source regarding decisions for school closings and delays.

The forecast at 8 p.m. Monday night stood at a 60 percent chance of freezing rain Monday night, mostly before 3 a.m. and after 4 a.m. Chance of precipitation Tuesday morning was 70 percent, with a chance of 0.1 inches of ice after 9 a.m.
