Four book-to-movie adaptations to look out for in 2014

The Fault In Our Stars: The popular young adult novel, authored by internet sensation John Green is one of the most highly anticipated book to movie adaptations of 2014. It follows the story of 16-year-old cancer patient Hazel Grace, and as the movie poster claims “Is one sick love story”. The recently released trailer has gone viral on the internet and been praised for its minute details that hint at absolute loyalty to the book. It is set to be released June 6.

Divergent: Following in the footsteps of The Hunger Games, Divergent chronicles the story of Tris, a 16-year-old girl who is slowly trying to figure out the dystopian world she lives in. The movie hosts some big hollywood names such as Kate Winslet and Shailene Woodley and is planned to release March 21.

The Giver: Lois Lowry’s 1993 dystopian tale is finally being portrayed on the big screen and is prepared to release August 15. The movie stars acclaimed actors such as Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep. Bridges explained in an interview that some liberties are being taken in the adaptation, as the movie version will include more romance, but Lowry was still consulted during production to make sure the movie fit her vision.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1-The highly anticipated third part of the Hunger Games series is set to release November 21. After the shocking end to Catching Fire, critics and fans alike are eagerly awaiting the continuation of Katniss Everdeen’s story and the districts’ rebellion against the Capitol.
