Cinco Ranch students start to Eagle out in Boy Scouts. Sophomore George Ulrich reached the Eagle Scout Rank on Friday Sep 27 2024 based out of Houston, Tx.
“It’s taken a lot of time and hard work, and it’s been about 6 years now. All my older brothers were in boy scouts and 2 of them made the eagle rank and I wanted to be the 3rd one and with the Eagle Rank comes a lot of opportunities.” Ulrich said.
Scouts was not new to him, he had been in Cub Scout before and had grown up in a family that takes scouts and outdoor activities very seriously.
“I was in Cub Scouts and I saw all my older brothers do it. I saw how great it was and the opportunities that were available” Ulrich said..
George Ulrich had said that he had to put LOADS of effort into just getting to the Eagle Rank. Now, Imagine seeing people do better and that to your working really hard in that same subject, wouldn’t you get jealous? If you ask George Ulrich, he will tell you that instead of being jealous, he took it to a different spin.
“I was never jealous, I saw that as an opportunity to work harder and keep going.” Ulrich said
George Ulrich had that attitude that kept him going through all the ranks in scouts. Instead of focusing on how other people got better ranks, he instead competed with himself and because of that kind of attitude, he was able to get to the Eagle Rank.
Ulrich reflects on the uphill battle that led him to eagle rank.
“Some of the difficulties I faced was procrastination like when I was at a high point, I would waste lots of time but you got to get to that peak.” Said George Ulrich.
In a recent interview, Ulrich stated that, “I started off at the scout rank, very young, did not know much, and now at the Eagle Rank, very prepared for life, very qualified and very knowledgeable.”
I hope teaches everybody at Cinco Ranch High school that when people want to rise and are willing to work for it, they will rise and they will achieve their dreams.
