How has the media influenced your view of Valentines day? Media has influenced my view on Valentine’s Day by making it such a big deal. For the longest time, I thought it was the worst day of the year because I felt so alone and like no one cared about me. All of the ads and big companies say stuff like ‘this is a day to spend with you special someone’ and I would think I’m not special to anyone so the media just made Valentine’s Day such an awful day for those that don’t have anyone to spend with. While for those that do they keep seeing ads like ‘if you truly love your person you gotta get them the most expensive gift ever’ like it has just made it so toxic for everyone. -Luana Muñoz (12)
