IT Chapter Two
It’s Back Again
September 27, 2019
Audiences were amazed when the remake of the film of Stephen King’s IT story debuted in 2018. The performances by the actors and actresses made such an impact on cinema that it called for a part two of this outstanding thriller. People adored seeing Bill Skarsgard portray the dynamic character, Pennywise the Clown, in the first movie. Skarsgard brings the same intoxicating, riveting and dangerous energy to the role in Chapter Two as well.
The film takes the story of the seven main kids known as the “Losers Club” who fought against Pennywise and reunites them when they are all grown up. They return from their adult life back to their former hometown Derry, where Pennywise still lives, to finish what they started as kids. As actors, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, James McAvoy, Jay Ryan, Isaiah Mustafa, James Ransone and Andy Bean do a splendid job at playing the kids how they would be as adults. Beverly (Jessica Chastain) still has her fluttery charm and bravery, Richie (Bill Hader) still has his sarcastic humor, Billie (James McAvoy) still has his creative spark and care for other people and Ben (Jay Ryan) still has his compassion and sweet, loving personality. Mike (Isaiah Mustafa) still has his fearless drive, Stanley (Andy Bean) still has his thoughtful character and last but never least, Eddie (James Ransone) continues as the hysterical little boy but in larger form.
Being back in their old home town brings back all of their painful memories of when they were kids. With Pennywise’s continuous actions against the folk of Derry, the group decides as a team that they have to be the ones to put an end to Pennywise’s manipulative killing spree. But to do this the group must revisit more horrible memories as kids when they were completely alone. Reliving these memories brings the group closer together as they become more determined to end Pennywise the Clown for good. The film is filled with animated characters and scenes from beginning to end. It creates more of an adventure, a scary one at that, for the main characters than the first movie which made it more interesting. The movie was better thought out than the first as it started the plot with a bit of twisted, mouth-dropping action to get the viewers attention and ended the story on a calmer note to cut the take. For a two and a half hour film, there is never a dull moment. IT Chapter Two is filled with scary surprises and adrenaline-rushing action, and what’s more exciting is the appearance of the writer himself, Stephen King.
