The girls cross country runners placed 6th at State Saturday on a sloppy course at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Sophomore Reagan Kappel placed second individually winning her silver medal in 18 minutes and 44.9 seconds while Senior Nathan Gift, on the boy’s team, placed eighth individually.
The girls team, who qualified for State with a 2nd place at Regionals, added strong performances from sophomores Megan Hopper and Mackenzie Duck while juniors Sarah Halvorsen and Graciela Carrasco rounded up the team scoring. The girls squad finished as the highest placing team from Region 3 outpacing Seven Lakes and Katy.
This UIL State competition marks the end of a successful season for both girls and boys cross country teams.
