When you apply for the University of Texas at Austin, one of the required statements you must agree to is the University Code of Conduct:
“The core values of The University of Texas at Austin are learning, discovery, freedom, leadership, individual opportunity, and responsibility. Each member of the university is expected to uphold these values through integrity, honesty, trust, fairness, and respect toward peers and community.”
It is this set of values, along with world-renowned research and academic programs, that pulls over 30,000 applicants every year. UT-Austin offers a wide variety of majors from 18 colleges and schools, the most popular majors being Advertising, Biology, Communications, Electrical Engineering, English, History, Political Science, and Psychology. The freshman retention rate is 94%, and the graduation rate is 52%, which is the highest four-year public rate in Texas.
