Nathan Gift grabs boys individual gold, girls advance to State with Team 2nd place at UIL Regionals

Senior Nathan Gift captured Regional gold and a trip to State Monday at the UIL Region 3 Cross Country Meet in Huntsville. Gift added the region title to his District Championship and is the favorite to win at State next week. The CRHS girls teams took 2nd place and will advance to State also.

Senior Nathan Gift ran away from the pack on a sloppy course at the UIL Region 3 Cross Country Meet Monday in Huntsville. Gift finished the 5K course in 17:31:1 to capture the regional gold medal and a trip to State next week.

The Cinco girls finished 2nd as a team paced by sophomore Reagan Kappel’s 6th place finish and will also advance to State competition. Sophomore Megan Hopper added a 15th place finish as the top Cougar girls runners finished 6th, 15th, 24th, 33rd and 36th in the field finishing second to Seven Lakes girls team. The Katy girls tied for third while the Katy and Seven Lakes boys finished first and third capping a dominant Regional performance by KISD schools.

The UIL State Cross Country Meet takes place Saturday, Nov. 7 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, TX.
